Fixed metal braces

The time-tested, reliable solution

Fixed metal braces are made of brackets (small metal squares attached to the teeth) and wires. In most orthodontic practices, fixed metal braces are the standard appliances used for precise and controlled movement of the teeth.

A number of bracket systems are available with all their specific pros and cons. We have worked with most of the systems over the years and can provide you with comprehensive advice.

Braces attached to the front of the teeth can be made much less noticeable by using tooth-coloured ceramic brackets.

We look forward to serving you!

At the first visit to our practice, we examine your child’s tooth and jaw positioning. We will usually be able to let you know at that visit whether orthodontic treatment is necessary and if so, when treatment should start and how much of the cost will be covered by your health insurance provider.

We need to collect diagnostic records to evaluate the extent of the malocclusion and the treatment required. The material we collect for diagnosis includes photographs, models of the jaw and x-rays. To minimize radiation exposure, our practice uses only the most modern digital radiography techniques.

After assessing the diagnostic material, we have all the information we need to draw up a personalized treatment plan. We will then discuss the plan with you in detail – along with possible alternative treatment options. Any decisions will be based on careful assessment of the benefit of treatment versus the time and cost involved.

Early orthodontic treatment is usually done with removable braces. Early treatment generally takes 1 to 1.5 years. As with any orthodontic care, good compliance and regular check-ups are essential for successful treatment.

Invisalign® Teen

The removable, nearly invisible alternative!

A new removable treatment system designed for teens and a very good alternative to metal braces in many types of malocclusion. The Invisalign® system uses a series of thin, clear – so virtually invisible – plastic trays (aligners) to straighten the teeth.

Patients independently switch to the next tray every 14 days. The teeth are moved into the desired final position in precisely defined steps from one aligner to the next. You simply take out the aligners for meals and to clean your teeth, so there is no interference with your usual dental and oral hygiene routines.
A big advantage over fixed metal braces.

IMPORTANT: Aligners need to be worn for at least 20-22 hours every day!
